Drinking soda puts kids at risk for type II diabetes, obesity, and tooth decay. By taxing sugary drinks, we can reduce soda consumption and the harmful health effects of drinking “liquid sugar” while raising money for Berkeley's general fund. As a Berkeley [resident/parent], I stand with the BHCC to #FightBigSoda by supporting a tax on sugary drinks in #Berkeley.

Did you know that 1 in 3 Americans and almost half of African Americans and Latinos born in 2000 will develop type II diabetes within their lifetimes? Sugary drinks, like soda and energy drinks, are a major culprit in the rising rates of type II diabetes, especially among children. As a Berkeley [resident/parent], I stand with the BHCC to #FightBigSoda by supporting a tax on sugary drinks in #Berkeley.

The soda industry spends over $382 million per year marketing unhealthy, sugary drinks to teenagers. The city of Berkeley can tell #BigSoda that we’re not going to stand for this type of aggressive marketing to our children by putting a tax on sugary drinks. As a Berkeley [resident/parent], I stand with the BHCC to #FightBigSoda in #Berkeley.

Facebook is also a great way to invite people to an event - either invite your networks to personal events (like house parties) or share Berkeley vs. Big Soda events (like trainings and coalition meetings).
