For the purpose of quantifying traffic to EcologyCenter.org and improving our service and content, the Ecology Center collects:

FM Finder Page
Private information is not collected when visitors use the EcologyCenter.org Farmers’ Market Finder. All distance calculations are done on the user’s computer. Address information is sent and users are redirected to google maps when the user requests driving directions.
Donation Page
To process a charitable contribution to EcologyCenter.org, it is necessary for the Ecology Center to gather the donor’s name, email address, mailing address, phone, and credit card information. This data is used to verify identity and execute the financial transaction. Additionally, phone number and email address information may be used to contact visitors if there is a problem with the transaction. The Ecology Center uses service providers (such as merchant banks and ecommerce integrators) for the express purpose of conducting financial transactions. Personal information is kept private and secure and is not sold, rented, or traded to third parties. It is important to note that credit card numbers are used only at the time of the transaction, and are not stored following the conclusion of the transaction.

Visitors that choose to post comments to the blog will be asked for their name, email address, and website (if they have one). This information is used exclusively for the purposes of 1) allowing moderators to purge the blog comments of abusive or inappropriate comments and 2) allowing blog users to log in quicker when they post comments in the future.

EcologyCenter.org and the Ecology Center reserve the right to modify or correct any errors or omissions in any portion of this website. In the future, if our information practices change, we will post the policy changes to our website to notify you of these changes and provide you with the ability to opt out of these new uses. It is highly unlikely that our privacy policy will change; the Ecology Center has maintained a very strict privacy policy regarding contact information for decades.

If a site visitor chooses to subscribe to the Ecology Center’s electronic newsletter, EcoCalendar, or Farmers’ Market newsletter through the sign-up forms on our site or while making a donation, the Ecology Center requests contact information such as name, email address, and zip code.

EcologyCenter.org will issue refunds of donations at our sole discretion. Requests for refunds must be made in writing via email to leah [at] ecologycenter [dot] org or letter sent to Communications Coordinator, Ecology Center, 2530 San Pablo Avenue, Berkeley, CA 95702. The letter must contain the contact person’s name, local phone number and address; the date of the donation and method used; and the reason for requesting a refund on a charitable donation.
